Overview for 2014 Plan

Same structure will be at monthly wānanga – key outcomes will be set at each wānanga to be achieved.  Focus for 2014 is Whākakotahitanga o Ngāti Porou ki Poneke kōrero each month will be on rebuilding Ngāti Porou ki Poneke communities.

Confirmed key events and dates for 2014 is:

  • Hosting Ngāta Lectures reo wānanga – 9 – 12 October 2014
  • Ngāti Porou EXPO – 6 – 7 September 2014
  • Social events – Texas Holden evening 12 July 2014 (not discussed at wānanga)
  • One off – event quiz or dance

Key wānanga dates:

  • 23 Feb – Kokiri Seaview
  • 23 Mar – Kokiri Seaview
  • 13 Apr – Horouta, Porirua
  • 11 May – Kaimahi hui – Kokiri Seaview
  • 25 May – Orongomai, Upper Hutt (yet to be confirmed)

Waiata – Hikurangi Maunga

Whānau was requested to learn kupu.  Explanation was given at the hui of meaning by Tamati Reedy

Action point: Rowena to send waiata kupu to whānau.

2014 Events

  1. Hosting Ngāta Lectures reo wānanga (Poneke)

Tono was put down in January 2014 at the last Ngāta Lectures to take reo wānanga around to different locations.   Ngāti Porou ki Poneke will be hosting in October 2014.

 Ngāta Lectures reo wānanga:

  1. March 2014 – Te Aaroa (Hinerupe Marae)
  2. July 2014 – Tolaga Bay (Hauiti Marae)
  3. October 2014 – Poneke (Venue to be confirmed)

Action point: Rowena to get Ngāta Lecutres reo wānanga dates off Selwyn Parata and send to whānau

Ngāti Porou EXPO

Kararaina gave a presentation on how this expo can support the idea of rebuilding Ngāti Porou ki Poneke, everyone coming together for  a common reason.

Nominated names for a working group was put forward to organise events they are:

Action point: Rowena to send EXPO presentation to whānau.

Building database

Unaminously agreed at the wānanga to build a database/website.  It will house and disseminate any information from the wānanga, update any changes to whānau contacts and keep the whānau well informed of events. You will have to register to be apart of the webside, so your information can be stored and updated regularly.   Already a facebook page has been set up a link will be made to website/database to also disseminate information.  Beau agreed to maintain the information and support the website until such time as the roopu is financially viable and has the capacity. 

Action point: Rowena to send through to Beau master file of contacts to be uploaded and send the website link to whānau to use.

Action point: Database will be finished by the next 23 March 2014 wānanga.  The key outcome for March hui is to develop protocols around the database information.
