Another successful reo wananga over the weekend at Kokiri Marae. More than 50 attended and all thoroughly enjoyed the classes and the whakawhanaungatanga. There was a call for more reo classes and Kaiako Hine Potae has responded to this request. She will start further reo classes from this Thursday, 2 May. Details are:
WHAT: Ngati Porou Reo classes
WHEN: Thursday nights starting 2 May, 6:00pm
WHERE: 42 Wainuiomata Rd, Gracefield
NOTE: Please bring koha and kai to share.
Please confirm attendance with Hine Potae 022 409 0172
Here’s some of the feedback received:
“The best part of this wānanga for me was being immersed in the reo with Raniera, Mark and Peeni. I thought the activities of kīwaha and sharing and kōrero was spot on. I think having such high calibre speakers of Te reo Māori at these Wānanga really brought that x factor”.
“Hine and Kelly were fantastic, I enjoyed the humour and the simplicity of what they gave us as beginners. Really looking forward to the next one”.
Overall the quality of the Wānanga was excellent. To be honest I didn’t expect it to be as awesome as it was. Thank you so much to Te Taurahere ki Poneke for providing this opportunity for us all to grow our reo nō te kaenga and to do so amongst our people.
Our next reo hui will be at Horouta Marae on 29 & 30 June. Keep an eye out for our panui.
Kia Ora
Would someone be kind enough to provide the details of the pakeke hui that takes place in Naenae on Monday evenings. I heard the Aunty mention it at our Ngāti Porou hui last weekend and would like to take my Koka to this kahui kaumātua hui. Please advise.
Ngā mihi
