Te Taurahere o
Ngati Porou ki Poneke

Ngati Porou ki Poneke is the official taurahere for the Wellington area. Our primary focus is to grow and strengthen community at a social, cultural and political level. We will do this by growing our database of naatis in Poneke (yes there are 12,000 of us) and  get amongst the community to promote ngatiporoutanga, whakawhanaungatanga and keep us connected through our reo, waiata and whakapapa, by promoting and delivering workshops and events throughout the year.

We encourage you all, young and old to come to our hui. We will endeavour to keep everyone informed of activities we are running throughout the year.

We are a not-for-profit incorporated society which allows us to seek funding from various sources including Te Runanga nui o Ngati Porou, donations and fundraising activities. We will prioritise the funds for the various events that will be run throughout the year.

Our organisational structure is built around a governance committee supported by an operational working group. The committee’s main responsibility is to set and implement the strategic direction for Ngati Porou ki Poneke and the operational working group is responsible for planning and organising the various activities that we support throughout the year.
